Ornamental Features

Molten Lava Weeping Crab is bathed in stunning clusters of fragrant white flowers along the branches in mid spring, which emerge from distinctive cherry red flower buds before the leaves. The fruits are showy tomato-orange pomes carried in abundance from early fall to late winter. The fruit can be messy if allowed to drop on the lawn or walkways, and may require occasional clean-up. It has dark green deciduous foliage. The pointy leaves turn yellow in fall. The rough khaki (brownish-green) bark adds an interesting dimension to the landscape.
